dKol on Passion

*If you see yourselves inside of this moment, then we're a perfect fit.

I guarantee in this moment there wasn't a care to be had. Not how to raise strong, independent kids in a tough world, not about the last fight the kids had over who isn't sharing, not about the scrape from an eager toddler exploration fail, nor what wasn't prepared for dinner. It's about having a reminder of what's most important-laughter, snuggles, reassurance that we're loved. To me documenting the simplicity of losing ourselves in these carefree moments is what it's all about. Because in the grand scheme of it all, we need more of these moments than we seem to get.

So if you ask me how my work is a reflection of me, or what I'm looking for in my heart through the lens, it's moments exactly like these, because I crave reminders. The kind of reminders that I can go to on any given day, especially the tough days, a prompt if you will, to soak in what's truly important.

Where You Can Find dKol

I love to write, although I don't do it as often as I would like, so blogging goes through phases of posting often and then long lulls. Photographing comes easier for me. However, I find that  I can keep up with Instagram and VSCO. I try to post often over on those two. On Instagram, you can get a good sense of both my professional and personal life. It's a nice mix of learning more about dKol, my family and of course my clients. I reserve VSCO for more of my documentation of how I see life, in glimpses, if you will.

I encourage you to follow along!

dKol + engagements

Met Liana and George at Burger Hill in Rhinebeck this morning. Took a hike to what felt like the top of the world, where George spun Liana around and danced with goofy grins on their face. I never once said, kiss each other or snuggle closer, not once. And for that very reason they belong in front of my lens. When emotions run deep my creativity gets fired up.

Next month these two are getting married and there is no mistake how much their love is infectious. Can't wait to document their vows.

Fortune Cookie In My New Jeans

When the tag on your new jeans act as if it's a fortune cookie...it must mean something other than being a wannabe. I took it as a sign that it was time to refresh my website. I'm a change junkie, so I embraced that as a "sign from the universe", turned up some rock & roll and got stuff done! Hope you like the fresh new look.

Hello + Updates + Commercial Photography

I'm proud to announce that from this relationship with Organic Hudson Valley several additional relationships have blossomed because of my work in the magazine. Most recently, Chef Terrance Brennan, head chef at The Roundhouse in Beacon, NY has used some of my photography on his website. Brennan's dishes are served with distinctive attention to detail mixed with decadent recipes that make for the perfect combination of artistry for his menu. Cheers, Chef!

dKol on Small Business Saturday

Small Business Saturday:

I absolutely love the secret ingredient that goes into each of these small businesses...PASSION. The working craftsmanship of actual hands manipulating the fine details of a locally made item is priceless. Especially on a day like today. Cheers to Small Business Saturday!
